Earlier this year we released a new slogan for BlueRibbon Coalition along with a redesign of our logo and branding. “Defend Your Ground” is the new slogan we selected. Our old logo had the phrase “Access for All” on it. While we still fight for everyone to have access to recreation experiences on public land, we decided that Defend Your Ground better captures the moment we are in.
First of all, we are often playing defense. We have watched over the years as trails get closed, gates come up, restrictive designations are implemented, and endless litigation leads to more lost access to public land. We’ve been fighting against these closures, and we will continue to do so. We need a strong defense right now, and we’re in the best position to deliver a strong defense.
Second, when we fight for you to be able to access your favorite public land recreation experiences, we take it very seriously that these experiences are personal and unique to YOU. Public lands belong to all of us, so in a sense they are very much yours.
Which means, Third, there is a piece of ground somewhere that is really important to you. We know there are places where you’ve had meaningful experiences with family, fallen in love, or found your escape from the pressures of daily life. In their haste to analyze soil, rocks, water, plants, and animals, land managers often overlook the deep connections that the public is creating with its Public Land. That’s why we’re here. To help you Defend Your Ground, wherever that ground might be.
We’ve been working to defend your adventures and your access to public land since 1987 across the entire United States. We’re proud of our work and our ability to anticipate the most important fights and play a meaningful role in their outcome. However, sometimes the most important fights are the ones brought to our attention by our members… by You!
