With hundreds of organizations that count themselves as members, BRC has been the collective voice for outdoor recreation users across a wide range of motorized modalities and issues nationwide. Membership means more than just financial support. It means a larger, organized community that agencies, lawmakers and courts can’t ignore.
Recent Supreme Court decisions have reinforced an important reality: courts often limit who can challenge government actions and who can benefit from court orders— limitations that are often determined by an organization’s members.
Why Being a Member Matters:
- Membership strengthens legal action. The more members affected, the stronger the case to defend access. More members = Better standings.
- Representation. Being a member helps ensure your interests are represented when legal action is needed.
- Members can be covered by court orders. When organizations go to court, relief often applies only to the members they represent.
All donations and dues help:
- Investigate and research public land policies
- Fund lawsuits and legal defense
- Ensure strong representation in rule-making and planning
- Rally grassroots action and cultivate advocates
- Expand trails, dispersed camping, and overall access to public lands
