After the 2025 fires that burned nearly 150,000 acres near the North Rim, hazardous trees and fire damage continue to block access across the Kaibab Plateau. The Forest Service is proposing to remove the danger and protect roads and trails from future closures. Back the plan by submitting your comment to the Forest Service before June 20.
The 2001 Roadless Rule locked up 58.5 million acres of National Forest land, blocking road maintenance, wildfire mitigation, and reasonable access for 25 years. BRC supports H.R. 7695 and S. 140, two bills that would repeal the rule and return management decisions to local forest managers. Contact your members of Congress and ask them to support both bills.
Falling water levels at Lake Powell have left launch ramps high and dry, cutting off boat access at Hite and straining Bullfrog. The National Park Service is proposing two new ramps to restore reliable access before conditions get worse. Submit your comment to NPS by April 24 and tell them to move forward with the new ramps.
