Support Active Management of Forests and Recreation Access in Colorado’s Swan Mountain

December 13, 2021

Just west of Denver is Swan Mountain where numerous outdoor recreation activities take place. The Forest Service is proposing vegetation projects to help keep the forest healthy. While we generally support vegetation projects BlueRibbon is always concerned with the temporary and permanent closures that generally result from these types of projects. Within Swan Mountain project area the USFS is primarily proposing to reroute any problematic trails. However the reroutes greatly reduce the amount of mileage available to users. We would like to see the USFS analyze potential impacts to recreation that could result from this lost mileage.
