Three projects are being proposed in Idaho after forest fire devastated the areas. All three projects include timber salvage which would benefit the local economies and provide local jobs. Salvage projects are also necessary for reopening roads that are closed for safety reasons. The plans also include vegetation projects which would help aid keeping the forests healthy to hopefully prevent future wildfires. We know that conservation groups try to block these projects and eventually sue the Forest Service to stop them from moving forward. The forests they claim to protect they are destroying, one blocked project at a time.
Forest fire obviously creates closures for users that often times lead to permanent closures. At BRC we spend countless hours working to support land agencies in every forest vegetation treatment project, because we believe the best way to protect forests is to manage them.
Comments are due Dec. 19th. You can submit a comment for all three proposed projects through the action alert below.
