Very few local jurisdictions have done more to limit economic development opportunities in their area than Grand County in Utah. Now Grand County is looking at misguided public land bills that were passed in Washington County and Emery County in Utah as models for their own public land bill. These county level public land bills tend to be vehicles for expanding restrictive and unnecessary wilderness designations. The land bills also tie the hands of land managers and counties in the long run and prevent them from adapting to shifting priorities in public land management. Grand County has been notoriously hostile to motorized recreation, and we have little confidence that any bill drafted by the county will do anything other than permanently lock up some of the best off-roading areas in the world while making the county dependent on unstable federal funding sources.
Grand County is currently accepting public comment for this proposal, and they need to hear from recreation users that we do not support their effort to lock up federal lands in their county that are owned by all Americans. In order for any proposal to become a reality, Grand County will also need to find federal legislators who are willing to support the proposal. We’ve created an action alert that makes it easy for you to tell Grand County and your elected representatives that you don’t support a Grand County Public Land Proposal, Please fill it out and help us spread the word.
As a person entering retirement age I have planed my entire life to venture to these places and enjoy the beauty they have to offer with my wife. We have finally reached that point in life where we get to explore our great country. Unfortunately time has not been our friend and getting to these places is almost impossible without the use of our side by side. A vehicle you allowed to be sold to me and now want to restrict its use. I don’t understand how closing these areas to our vehicles helps anyone. I spend thousands of dollars every trip I take throughout this country. Without vehicle access to the land we the public own it then becomes only accessible to the young and fit or government officials. This is not right and I will fight to my dying breath to keep them open. For many years there has not been an issue but now there is? There are many places throughout our country where access is limited already so why can’t we continue to have the few places left for vehicle access left alone? The trails are there already so closing them now does no good because 100 years from now the trail will still be there and only a few fortunate people will be permuted to see it. How un-American is that?
Moab is what it is today because of offroading. It is on the bucket list of many Americans across the country. Shutting it down to the point where people don’t want to come anymore would be economic suicide!
I oppose the Grandy County Public Land Bill.
I oppose the federal landgrab and county landgrab We have enough wilderness we have enough national Paris national parks ohv users and 4×4 enthusiast are being Pushed out of motorized recreation. Stop the land grab get us out of the antiquities act
Please do not knit the access to these lands by OHV users. We have as much right to enjoy the land as people that aren’t OHV users. Do not grant more rights to one group at the expense of another groups rights. This is not pie…because one gets more, another should not get less.

I am opposed to the restrictive designations in this plan. I’ve visited and used these areas through many forms of recreation. I still love to experience the back country in and around Grand County as well as other areas in Utah. My preferred form of recreation is OHV and this plan will severely limit the OHV community’s access. My age and physical condition now limit my ability to experience the backcountry the way younger people can. I’ve enjoyed these lands nearly all my life and I would like to be able to continue into the future. I hope that the younger generations will also be allowed to visit these areas as they age. Please do not add these restrictions that will favor only the young and healthy.
I oppose the lock up of public land in Grand County. I ride over 1200 miles a year on public land to see and appreciate all that the State of Utah has to offer. By closing these areas it proves that the BLM is taking away these rights from the people. Grand County doesn’t own these lands, We the People do. Restricting areas such as being proposed by Grand County is siding with one small group that affects people all over this country who wish to come and enjoy the land that is supposably is their to enjoy.

Moab is the 8th wonder of the world, and it needs to be open to all Americans to view and enjoy for generations to come. I visit Moab many times each year, and so do many many others worldwide.
