Beas Lewis Flat Environmental Assessment Released: Dispersed Camping Next to Capitol Reef is Still on the Chopping Block
UPDATE: The BLM has released a new environmental assessment for the Beas Lewis Flat campground. While we appreciate the BLM scaling back the plan, after watching them close over 600 miles of public access routes in the area, this plan is still too restrictive. We provide our recommendations below and need your help to save dispersed camping outside of Capitol Reef NP. Comments are needed by September 17th!

Support an Open-Access, Active Management Alternative in Oregon’s Blue Mountains Forest Plan Revision
For the first time in 35 years, USFS is updating the management plans for the Blue Mountains region in Oregon and Washington. Initial plans propose to stop issuing recreation residence tract permits, consider over 700,000 acres for Roadless Areas, and only maintain a fraction of the already-established roads. Your voice is needed to ensure that we protect recreation access to this popular forest.

Valles Caldera General Management Plan to Continue to Restrict Access to Recreation Users
The newly released General Management Plan for Valles Caldera National Preserve in New Mexico continues to restrict access. However, the affected areas are not primitive nor remote by federal land management standards. Plus, they contain already well-established roads. Valles Caldera is a unique landscape that should be shared broadly with the public. The current GMP risks locking away too much from everyday Americans.
