We Have an Opportunity to Revisit Old Closures
We need your support. President Trump recently signed an Executive Order that sets the stage to revisit old motorized access closures and build a new regulatory system to expand OHV access to public lands.
Petition to Collect Old Closure Data
The Removing Unnecessary and Counterproductive Restrictions on Access to Federal Lands Executive Order signed by President Trump creates a generational opportunity to restore and expand access to our public lands. While we will be working to ensure this order informs our current legal challenges and future work, we need your help to make sure we explore every opportunity to restore access that was lost through previous closures. The signing of this order by the President is the first step. Federal Agencies are now instructed to rescind regulations like the Minimization Criteria that have been used to justify numerous closures. They are also instructed to create new regulations designed to "provide more access, recreation opportunities, and greater multiple-use benefits of public lands."
In order to ensure that this huge victory leads to a reopening of our public lands, we need to start building a list of our lands, trails, and roads that have been closed by the old system. Let us know in the form below, which closures you would like agencies to reevaluate under the new rules created by the Executive Order.
