The Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Uncompahgre Field Office is currently seeking public input on its Naturita Travel Management Plan, which will guide the management of public land in Colorado’s Southwest District. This plan encompasses diverse landscapes, including river systems, red rock deserts, and piñon-juniper woodlands, offering a variety of recreational opportunities. Comments will be accepted through March 18, 2025.
The BLM is evaluating travel routes within the area to designate as open, closed or limited. If there are routes missing from the inventory or needed new routes for different modalities, now is the time to address those concerns and needs for the future. It is also important at this stage to document the different uses for each route.
It’s crucial that the motorized community participate in this process to ensure that the needs of the off-highway vehicle (OHV) community are considered. Your input can help maintain access to existing routes and potentially open new areas for motorized recreation. If you’re looking for a new place to explore, you should consider adding this area to your list to improve your understanding of the area.
If you have on the ground information of this area it is essential you submit that information using the tool below. Let’s work together to ensure that our community’s needs are represented in the Naturita Travel Management Plan.

Closure is not management of public lens
There is absolutely NO need for a management plan for Naturita. Quit wasting taxpayer dollars…LEAVE IT ALONE
Stop taking everything away for no good reasons at all. Public land is that. Public not just a select few to do as they wish with.
Please keep these spaces open to all.
I’m afraid restricting roads would actually concentrate people to the routes that remain open.
The whole point for me is to get away from people.
Closure is NOT Management. Keep public lands open for all to use and enjoy.
