Support Withdrawing “Conservation and Landscape Health” Rule That Sells Public Lands to Highest Bidder in Name of Environmentalism

The BLM is proposing to rescind the Conservation and Landscape Health Rule. This rule prioritized “conservation” on BLM land through a new scheme of selling “conservation leases.” It is a backdoor attempt to sell out our public land to the highest bidder to achieve goals of the 30×30 Plan favored by anti-access organizations. The newly released General Management Plan for Valles Caldera National Preserve in New Mexico continues to restrict access. However, the affected areas are not primitive nor remote by federal land management standards. Plus, they contain already well-established roads. Valles Caldera is a unique landscape that should be shared broadly with the public. The current GMP risks locking away too much from everyday Americans. The move by the current administration to secure dams in the northwest must also be extended to secure the Glen Canyon Dam. Radical environmentalists have increased their efforts to dismantle the dam and drain Lake Powell— which provides clean, renewable energy to six states, supplies critical water to cities and farms throughout the southwest, and supports recreation and tourism critical to rural communities.
